You won’t believe what may happen to Sweden

Tonight’s the night. All the brightest stars gather at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood to see who’s the best in the business. It’s the night of the Academy Awards and Sweden is in the game.

Tonight at the 89:th Academy Awards Sweden has 4 chances of getting a golden statue: Linus Sandgren for best cinematography; A Man Called Ove for best foreign language film; and Max Martin and Karl Johan Schuster for best original song.

Linus Sandgren

The hit musical La La Land has been nominated for a whooping 14 awards this night. The Swede Linus Sandgren has been nominated for his outstanding cinematography. He is up against the visually stunning ArrivalLionMoonlight, and Silence, but as he has already won a Bafta for best cinematography Sandgren is a favorite for tonight. Sweden might win this category.

A Man Called Ove

This Swedish drama comedy film is nominated for two awards: best foreign language film and best makeup and hairstyling. Although it has tough competition in the makeup category going up against both Star Trek Beyond and Suicide Squad, it might just snag the award for best foreign film.

Max Martin and Karl Johan Schuster.

Together with Justin Timberlake the two swedes have made the super popular song “Can’t stop the feeling” from the movie Trolls and have been nominated for best original song. This category will surely be a nail biter. “Can’t stop the feeling” is competing against the Disney hit “How far I’ll go” from Moana that’s written by the one and only Lin Manuel Miranda. It’s also up against Two songs from the musical La La Land so it’s safe to say that this category is anybody’s game.
